Robert Wayne “Robbie” Jenkins, 61, of Shenandoah, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at the Sentara RMH Medical Center. Mr. Jenkins was born on February 17, 1965 and was a son of the late James Benjamin and Lorene Virginia (Louderback) Jenkins.
After graduating from Page County High School, Robbie attended Virginia Tech. He then worked for seven years for TSS. Later, Robbie worked for 34 years for Verizon (formerly CONTEL and GTE) before his retirement in 2022. He enjoyed farming and restoring Allis Chalmers antique tractors. He loved fishing, boating, camping and riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Robbie also enjoyed spending time with his family at the Outer Banks. He was a lifelong member of Newport Christian Church and was also a member of the Newport-Grove Hill Ruritan Club. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family.
On August 27, 1983, he married his beloved wife, the former Deanna Dowrey, who survives him. They shared 45 years together.
In addition to his wife, Robbie is survived by his children, Shera Marie Jenkins-Pierce and husband, Matt of Front Royal, Jared Thomas Jenkins and wife, Suzanne of Elkton; siblings, Debra Sue Bailey, Elizabeth Ann Williams and husband David, James Jenkins and wife Tina, Charles E. Jenkins and wife, Denise; his beloved and cherished grandchildren, Kyler Thomas Jenkins, Everly Marie Jenkins, Aubrey Elizabeth Jenkins; lifelong best friend, Gary Breeden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dennis Bailey.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 10, 2026 at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
The funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Friday, September 11, 2026 at the Newport Christian Church with Pastors Cole Lindsley and David Burch officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
