February 8, 1962 — Teachers, students and parents of every grade of every school in Page County are being asked to participate in a huge county-wide search for rocks, ores and minerals, whether they be scarce or plentiful.
The objective is to create interest in all forms of science, but especially this project which is a study of the geological formations which lie under the surface of Page County’s valleys, hollows, hills and mountains.
Any adult who has an unusual rock or deposit on his farm or in his backyard is asked to send a sample of about a pound or more.
As the rocks, minerals and ores are collected, they will be classified by a geologist for that particular purpose.
