Sarah Frances Shaffer Bell, 88, of Luray, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Page Memorial Hospital.
She was born on May 3, 1934, in Luray and was a daughter of the late Carl John Shaffer and Mary Susan Long Shaffer.
Sarah had worked as an Administrative Assistant at Potomac Edison for 34 years and was a member of the Leaksville Christian Church in Luray.
On October 13, 1973, she married Walton Page “Buddy” Bell, who died on January 6, 2013.
She is survived by a sister; Ann Poletti (George) of New York; a niece, Lori Poletti and two great nieces, Jeni and Sara Poletti of New York, two nephews, John Shaffer of Luray, and Terry Crickenberger (Joe) of Richmond. She is also survived by a stepson, Terry Bell (Kelly); grandchildren; Brady Bell, and Tessy Marston (Brandon); and two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Isaac Marston, all of Luray.
She is preceded in death by a brother, Dale Shaffer (Annabell); a sister, Mary Jane Crickenberger; and two nephews Phillip Crickenberger and Jeffrey Poletti.
Sarah was blessed with and thankful for her dear friends, a close church family and amazing caregivers.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 21, at the Leaksville Christian Church by Pastor Robert Griffith, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
