LURAY, July 15 — On Wednesday, Page County Public Schools announced that Corey Shenk had been appointed the new Athletic Director at Page County High School.

During the 2025–2026 school year, Shenk served the division as Dean of Students for Springfield Elementary School and Luray Elementary School. He brings extensive experience as a head coach in both baseball and basketball, previously served as an athletic director at another school, and volunteered as an assistant athletic director at Luray High School.

“Throughout these roles and his other positions within the school division, Shenk has demonstrated strong leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to supporting students, staff, and families. His experience as a school administrator, combined with his dedication to Page County Public Schools, will serve him well as he transitions into this important leadership role at Page County High School,” reads a press release issued by the school superintendent on Wednesday.

As Athletic Director, Shenk will oversee the school’s interscholastic athletic programs, support coaches and student-athletes, coordinate athletic events and schedules, and promote programs that reflect the division’s expectations for sportsmanship, academic achievement, safety, and character.

“I am honored and excited for the opportunity to serve as Athletic Director at Page County High School,” Shenk said in a press release on Wednesday. “I look forward to working alongside our student-athletes, coaches, staff, families, and community to build upon the school’s proud traditions and provide meaningful opportunities for our students to grow, compete, and succeed.”

Shenk replaces Ryne Powell, who served in the role for two years. Powell came to Page after teaching Economics and Personal Finance at Spotswood High School and serving as the Assistant Athletic Director.

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Shenk to Page County High School as Athletic Director,” said Dr. Bryan Huber, Superintendent of Page County Public Schools. “Corey is a dedicated, student-centered leader who understands the important role that athletics and extracurricular activities play in the overall educational experience. He values teamwork, accountability, strong relationships, and school pride, and I am confident he will provide positive leadership for Page County High School’s student-athletes, coaches, families, and community.”
