Luray panoramic

September 4, 1890 — Last Monday U.S. Com’r. Snyder issued a warrant for the arrest of a man named Slater, charged with selling liquor in Luray.

The warrant was placed in the hands of Assistant Deputy Marshal Kibler who went for this man and found him engaged in a game of “seven up.”

Mr. K. informed him of the object of his visit, when Slater replied “all right,” but instead of surrendering jumped down the stairway and made his escape.

Mr. K. followed him in hot pursuit, giving him a parting shot from his revolver, but to no effect, as Slater made good his escape.
