November 18, 1965 — A 17-year-old juvenile made his escape from the Page County jail Monday night of this week and is still at large.

Sheriff Clark Long said the youth was on the third floor of the jail and worked a hole through the plaster ceiling of a rest room.

By standing on the commode he was able to climb through to the attic, make his way to the cupola in front, removed some slats from the window, and tied two sheets together to form a rope which he let himself down to the porch roof in front of the jail.

From there he jumped to the court house lawn and disappeared.

The youth is charged with the theft of two automobiles.
