The Homecoming

Luray panoramic

July 22, 1911 — A success passing all reasonable anticipations, Page County Homecoming Week will be remembered for decades to come as the greatest gathering of Page County people ever held. The beautiful Luray Inn grounds were brilliantly illuminated with num- erous arc lights and hundreds of incandescent electric lights ready for the opening exercises on Monday night.

The Luray people responded to the demands of the occasion and practically every residence and business house is gaily decorated with national colors, bunting and flags, while the word “Welcome” met the visitors’ eyes on many building fronts. A string of incandescent lights upon the Hawksbill bridge at each end and numerous additional lights, arc and incandescent, are located in various parts of the town.
