LURAY, Nov. 23 — Another large crowd turned out just before Thanksgiving for the 2024 Turkey Trot along the Luray-Hawksbill Greenway, sponsored by Page Alliance for Community Action. The 1K got underway at 9:30 a.m., while the 5K started at 10 a.m. Each “trot” began and ended in the Mechanic Street Parking Lot.
Each autumn, PACA sponsors the annual runs as part of its overall mission to “promote healthy life choices for the youth and families in Page County.” While a large portion of the non-profit organization’s state and federal grant funds are used to fight and prevent substance abuse in our community, a number of programs are provided to promote overall healthy living. PACA provides free swimming lessons for youth, partners with local schools to provide inspirational programs, and coordinates with Luray’s Parks and Recreation Department to host the annual Sunflower Festival.
