PACA receives grant for 21st Century Community Learning Center at three county schools

Page Alliance for Community Action (PACA) has received a grant funds totaling $255,539 from Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) to provide out-of-school programs at Page County Middle School, Stanley Elementary School and Luray Elementary School.

These after school and summer programs will be provided for students during the school year 2023-2024 in grades 2nd through 8th grade. The purpose of the 21st CCLC program is to:

Provide opportunities for academic enrichment, including providing tutorial services to help students to meet the challenging State academic standards;

Offer students a broad array of additional services, programs, and activities, such as youth development activities, nutrition and health education, arts, theater, physical fitness and wellness programs, technology education programs, drug prevention programs, mathematics, science, career and technical programs;

Offer families of students served by the CCLC program opportunities for meaningful engagement in their children’s education, including opportunities for literacy and related educational development.

PACA will partner with the school division, Page County Public Schools, the Virginia Cooperative Extension agency in Page County (4-H), Northwestern Community Services Board, Shenandoah National Park, CHOICES, and Page County Public Library to provide a variety of learning activities and programs to enhance the physical and social development of students & families, and increase parents’ involvement with the education of their children.

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) grant program was established by Congress as Title X, Part 1, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA).
