LURAY, Nov. 27 — Luray sophomore Cason Bryant and senior Braden Ancell were among the All-Region 2B football selections announced on Monday.

Bryant earned second team All-Region honors on offense as a running back after posting 956 yards on 135 carries this season — averaging 7.1 yards per carry — and scoring seven touchdowns. The sophomore also had 76 yards receiving this season on just four catches (an average of 19 yards per reception) and one additional touchdown through the air.

“Cason’s work ethic and desire to be the best have helped him become an important part of the team,” LHS head football coach Lynn “Skip” Hamilton told PVN. “He is one of the hardest workers, and he is now developing his leadership skills by encouraging his teammates during the season and now with our off-season workouts.”

Ancell earned second team All-Region honors on defense as a linebacker after recording 77 tackles, 16 assists and one tackle-for-loss this season.

“Braden was our most consistent defensive player,” Coach Hamilton said. “His work ethic and attention to detail helped him lead the team in tackles. He also was a great team leader as a senior.”

The Bulldogs, who went 2-8 this season, graduate seven seniors, but bring back a strong core for the 2024 campaign.

Riverheads’ standout senior running back Cayden Cook-Cash was selected the Offensive Player of the Year in Region 2B, while Central’s senior defensive lineman Nathan Lopez was the Defensive Player of the Year. Central of Woodstock had the most All-Region 2B selections at 13.
