November 20, 1986 — VF Corporation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Lawrence R. Pugh announced the completion of the acquisition of Blue Bell Holding Company Inc., effective Monday.
Blue Bell has manufacturing plants at Luray and Shenandoah among its Shenandoah Valley operations.
Robert E. Gregory, president of VF Corp., said in a news release, “With the acquisition of Blue Bell, VF will be the largest domestic seller of jeanswear. The acquisition will also allow VF to serve different retail channels of distribution and consumer segments with Wrangler and Rustler, Girbaud and Lee brands.”
