Age 95, formerly of Luray, Va.
Virginia M. Hopkins, 95, passed away on March 9, 2022, at University of Virginia Medical Center, with family at her side. Virginia was one of four children born to the late Henry P. and Lucy A. Melton Mercer. She was born on October 31, 1926, in Purcellville, Va.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, George William Hopkins, who died in 1978; her sisters, Anne E. Dellinger and Doris R. Walters, and her brother, Henry P. Mercer.
Surviving is her son, George William Hopkins II (Missy Wood) of Shenandoah, Va.; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Cudd (Edward) of Fredericksburg, Va.; her grandson, Buster Hopkins of Bowling Green, Va.; her great granddaughter, Raegan Cudd of Fredericksburg, Va.; nieces, nephews, and friends who were all blessed to know her.
Virginia moved to Luray, Va. in 2002 to live near her two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Buster. After spending 17 years in Luray, Va., she moved to Charlottesville, Va., where she resided at Cedars Healthcare Center. She will be missed by her many friends she met at Cedars Healthcare Center where she lived the last three years.
Virginia touched the lives of many people with her spunky personality and caring heart. Her favorite things included her son and two grandchildren, food, bingo, dancing, listening to music, watching NASCAR, the cooking channel and tennis on T.V., and making people laugh.
Services for Virginia will be held at Pierce Funeral Home (9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA 20110) on Monday, March 21st. Visitation is at 9:30 a.m. with service following at 10:30 a.m.. Burial will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens.
