October 2, 1961 — R.R. Huffman, mayor of Stanley, said that he welcomed a recount of the votes cast in the Stanley election of June 13. H.F. Aleshire, his opponent, in the mayoralty election is challenging the count and claiming certain irregularities. According to the official count of the Electoral Board, Mr. Huffman received 181 votes and Aleshire 177 which is the same as the unofficial count reported the day of the election and published in this newspaper. The case will be heard today beginning at 9:30 a.m. before a three judge court composed of Judge Hamilton Haas of this circuit, C. Champion Bowles of the Goochland Circuit, and William S. Jordon of Radford. R.W. Keyser is representing Mr. Huffman. Aleshire is represented by Earman and Hammer of Harrisonburg.
