March 6, 1986 — Mark C. Lundblad of Luray Monday night received the rank of Eagle Scout, becoming the youngest Boy Scout in Luray’s history to receive Scouting’s highest honor.
The award and other honors were presented during ceremonies conducted by Luray Boy Scout Troop 7 for its sponsoring organization, the Luray Rotary Club, at the Luray Caverns and Coach Restaurant.
The troop, headed by Scoutmaster Edwin Smith, now has five active registered Eagle Scouts and has achieved during 1985 more than 30 rank advancements, 120 merit badges, 70 skill awards and six Eagle Palm advancements.
Lundblad, the son of Mr. and Mrs. David K. Lundblad of Luray, received the Eagle from Scoutmaster Smith and Assistant Scoutmaster Dr. E.W. Gilbert.
The youth officially earned the recognition from the National Boy Scout Association on Jan. 21 when he was 12 years and two months of age — the youngest Eagle in Luray’s history.
