Nellie Davis Sprouse Painter

Age 92, Luray, Va.

On April 14, 2024, Nellie Davis Sprouse Painter passed away peacefully in her home.

She was born on October 30, 1931, to parents Wesley Roy Sprouse and Leah Rule Sprouse.

She married Page F. Painter on Nov. 10, 1963.

She is survived by her son, Michael Painter and wife Judith Painter of Salem, VA; one granddaughter, Emma Painter of Vermont; two grandsons, Noah Painter and Samuel Painter of Salem, VA; two sisters, Mable Holburg of Palmyra, VA, and Bootsie Childress and husband Ted Childress of Scottsdale, VA; two brothers, Robert Sprouse of Staunton, VA, and Carl Sprouse of Charlottesville, VA; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Page; her father, Wesley; mother Leah; and stepmother Gracie Sprouse.

She will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leaksville Christian Church, 3424 Leaksville Rd., Luray, VA 22835.
