October 29, 1987 — The Stanley Police Department will be reduced to one member when the resignation of an officer takes effect Friday.
Officer Larry Bailey has resigned effective Oct. 30, it was announced at a special meeting of the Stanley Town Council last Wednesday.
No reasons were given for the resignation at the meeting.
The resignation falls in the wake of the departure of officer Shirley “Smokey” Housden on Oct. 12.
Police Chief Jerry Petefish remains the only officer on the force.
No applications had been submitted as of Tuesday morning, Town Manager Mike Hammer said.
