Abduction, child abuse, assault and child pornography among April indictments

LURAY, April 5 — Members of a grand jury in Page County Circuit Court last week issued a true bill on a total of 35 indictments handed down Wednesday on charges placed among 25 individuals.

Those indicted by the April 5 grand jury include:

• James Anthony Marshall Jr., of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for abduction by force or intimidation and a Class 1 misdemeanor for pointing or brandishing a firearm. Both offenses occurred on Feb. 2, 2023, according to court records, with an arrest on the same date. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

John Hamilton Edward Good, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 6 felony for assault and battery of a family member (third or subsequent offense). The offense and an arrest occurred on Sept. 23, 2022, according to court records. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

Samantha Nicole McDorman, of McGaheysville and Elkton (both listed in court records), was indicted on two Class 6 felonies for child abuse/disregard for life and driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol level greater than 0.20. She was also indicted on a Class 1 misdemeanor for driving under a revoked or suspended license and received a direct indictment (on an unclassified infraction) for not having a child 8 and under properly restrained in the vehicle. All of the offenses occurred on Dec. 7, 2022, according to court records, with an arrest date of the same for the child restraint and DWI charges. An arrest date of Jan. 30, 2023 is listed for the charge of felony child abuse. No arrest date was listed for the misdemeanor charge. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

David Brian Cubbage, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 6 felony for possession of child pornography. The offense occurred on Dec. 9, 2022, according to court records, with an arrest date of Jan. 19, 2023. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

Timothy Neal Smith, of Rileyville, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug, and two Class 1 misdemeanors for driving under a revoked or suspended license. The drug offense and an arrest occurred on Aug. 9, 2022, according to court records. The driving offenses occurred on Sept. 15, 2022 and again on Dec. 18, 2022, according to court records, with an arrest on each date. Smith is scheduled to appear in court again at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 for a status hearing.

Bryan Christopher Owen, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug, and a Class 6 felony for felony possession of a weapon (ammunition, not a gun). Both offenses and an arrest occurred on March 22, 2023, according to court records. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

Aaron Lee Stoneberger, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on two Class 5 felonies for the sale or distribution of a Schedule III drug. One offense occurred on April 18, 2022, according to court records, with an arrest on Oct. 27, 2022. The second charge occurred on May 3, 2022, according to court records, with the same arrest date. Stoneberger is scheduled to appear in court again at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 for a status hearing.

• John Randolph Owen, of Luray, Va. was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug, and a Class 1 misdemeanor for driving under a revoked or suspended license. Both offenses and an arrest occurred on Oct. 20, 2021, according to court records. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

• Cody Lane Dean, of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted on two Class 6 felonies — one by direct indictment — for eluding or disregarding police. Both offenses occurred on Dec. 11, 2022, according to court records, with an arrest date of Dec. 14, 2022. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

• Brittany Nicole Hammer, of Strasburg, Va., was indicted on an unclassified felony for the distribution or sale for profit a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Aug. 16, 2022, according to court records, with an arrest the next day on Aug. 17, 2023. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

• Thomas Wayne Hoover, of Grottoes, Va., was indicted on an unclassified felony for possession with intent to manufacture a Schedule I/II drug. Both the offense and an arrest occurred on Sept. 15, 2022, according to court records. Hoover is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 for a status hearing.

• Michelle Denise Hardeman, (no address listed), was indicted on a Class 6 felony for driving while intoxicated – third offense within five to 10 years. The offense and an arrest occurred on Nov. 6, 2022, according to court records. Hardeman was scheduled to appear in court again at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2023 for a status hearing.

• Shawn Michael Aldrich, of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on April 29, 2023, according to court records, with an arrest on Aug. 25, 2022. Aldrich was scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023 for a status hearing.

• Marshall Alvin Bowman Jr., of Mount Crawford, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The drug offense occurred on Nov. 9, 2022, according to court records, with an arrest date of Jan. 10, 2023. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

• Katrina May Campbell, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on Nov. 9, 2022, according to court records. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

• Michael Roy Dwyer Jr., of Mount Jackson, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on July 23, 2022, according to court records, with an arrest on Sept. 19, 2022. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

• Jay W. Funk, of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on Aug. 26, 2022, according to court records. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

• Taylor Renee Good, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on July 9, 2022, according to court records. Good is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 for a status hearing.

David Wayne Lam, of Elkton, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on April 29, 2021, according to court records, with an arrest on Jan. 30, 2023. Lam is scheduled to appear in court again at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 for a status hearing.

• Donald Shannon Lucas, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Sept. 1, 2022, according to court records, with an arrest date of Oct. 26, 2022. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

• John Joseph McClure, of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on Oct. 25, 2022, according to court records. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

• Cinnamon April Phillips, of Elkton, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Sept. 10, 2022, according to court records, with an arrest on Dec. 26, 2022. Phillips was scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 10, 2023 for a status hearing.

• Justin Scott Shifflett, of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Jan. 31, 2023, according to court records, with an arrest on March 18, 2023. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

• Kenneth Benton Sours, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Oct. 30, 2022, according to court records, with an arrest the next day on Oct. 31, 2022. Sours was scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 10, 2023 for a status hearing.

• Lauren Ashley Thompson, of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on May 27, 2022, according to court records, with an arrest on Sept. 18, 2022. No further court appearances were listed at this time.

Grand jury hearings are held the first Wednesday of each month in Page County Circuit Court.
