Age 88, Stanley, Va.

Aletta Lorene Seekford, 88, of Stanley, Va., passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Page Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Aletta was born in Stanley on June 20, 1933, and was a daughter of the late Dewey and Ethel Painter.

On September 23, 1953, she married Alvin Seekford, who preceded her in death on June 3, 2020.

She is survived by two sons, Randall (Carla) and Larry Seekford, both of Stanley; a daughter, Sharon (Bucky) Nauman of Luray; a grandson, Samuel Seekford, who was her pride and joy; a step granddaughter, Vanessa Spitler (Brandon); and three step great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Isabell Gochenour.

She was a 1951 graduate of Stanley High School, where she served as senior class president and class valedictorian.

Aletta was a lifelong member of Hilliard Chapel Assembly of God in Stanley, where she had taught Sunday school, led in singing and directed Christmas plays. Aletta had a genuine love for God and her family, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She also had a true love for children and babysat many in her home.

Aletta was an Avon representative for 45 years, right up until the time of her sickness, winning many awards for sales. She also made a great number of cherished friends as a result of her time with Avon.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, at the Hilliard Chapel Assembly of God by the Rev. James A. Henry. Burial will be in the Seekford Family Cemetery at Alma, Stanley.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 2, at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
