An ancient grave

Luray-Cave Hill

April 25, 1889 — Mr. Isaac Spitler is preparing to enclose with a wrought iron fence the grave of one of his old ancestors, Philip Varner, on the Rodeffer farm, below town, who died about the beginning of the present century.

Mr. V. came from Germany, and was the first in this country of that now numerous family living in Page. He was the first man, it is said, who ever owned a wheeled vehicle in this Valley.
