August 7, 1958 — Miss Margie Young, of Stanley, and several passengers luckily escaped serious injury Wednesday morning of this week when Miss Young swatted at a bumble bee which wanted to “hitch a ride” to Luray, and wrecked her car.
Miss Young, who was operating a 1952 Ford, was traveling north on Rt. 340, when she swatted at a bee in the car and lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the right side of the road, back across the road, up a bank and overturned. Miss Young and her passengers Mrs. Elva Martin, Mrs. Anna M. Bailey and Mrs. Edna Phillips, received treatment at the P.M. Hospital for cuts, bruises and abrasions.
