Bell ringer

~ Press release provided by the Salvation Army

LURAY — There may be less than two weeks left until Christmas, but there are plenty of opportunities to ring the bell for The Salvation Army.

Opportunities to serve the community and ring the bells remain at Wal-Mart and Rural King in Front Royal, as well as the Wal-Mart in Luray.

The Wal-Mart in Luray is particularly in need of volunteers;

the bell has only sounded three days so far this season.

This year, those who would like to sign up can do so easily online at RegisterToRing.com. This website also allows you to sign up as a “virtual” bell-ringer, hosting a fundraiser online to garner support from your family and friends.

In addition to cash and checks at the kettles, those wanting to support The Salvation Army may simply scan the QR code located at every kettle and make an online donation or text Hope4FrontRoyal to 51555.

The Front Royal Corps of The Salvation Army serves Warren, Page and Rappahannock counties, as well as the Town of Strasburg. Funds raised throughout the Kettle Campaign go directly back to the local community to support those in need.

From October 2020 to September 2021, the Front Royal Corps assisted 1,096 families with rent/mortgage assistance, utilities assistance, hygiene items, clothing, or food. The majority of those funds come from the annual Kettle Campaign, which relies on organizations to “adopt” days, as well as individual volunteers.

The last day of the Kettle Campaign is December 24th.
