Bennie Whitley Jones, 75, of Harrisonburg, VA passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Mr. Jones was born January 19, 1951, in Arizona and was the son of the late Owen and Olita Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Betty Mae Martin and Reverend Tommy Jones. At a young age his parents died and he was adopted by the late Ernest and Demetrius Jones.
Bennie was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was previously employed at Packaging of America. Bennie loved to golf and traveled the world to experience different courses and tournaments. When he wasn’t golfing, you could find him attending sporting events of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Kevin Jones, Sr.; daughter, Teri Jones and husband, Treavor; step-children, Tessie and Carrie Miranda; siblings, Margaret Wright and husband, Victor, Margaret Lamar, and Ernest Jones, Jr.; sister-in-law, Barbara Jones; brother-in-law, Gary Martin; loving companion, Lois Fisher; grandchildren, Kevin Jones, Jr., Kristina Jones, Tiarra Dean and husband, Wesley, MaKayla Jones, and Trestan Jones; great-grandchildren, Zayn Smith, Amyra Smith, Julien Jones, Ella Dean, and Kai Dean, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton, with the Reverend Ralph Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Paran Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2860 Fleeburg Road, Shenandoah, VA 22849.
