Bertha May Stoneberger Good

Age 93, Luray, Va.

Bertha May Belle “May” Stoneberger Good, of Luray, Va. passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, in Luray, Virginia. A daughter of the late Carson Melvin and Mina Irene Bradley Stoneberger, she was born Feb. 21, 1929, in the Goodrich Road area of Stanley, Va. Bertha had 10 siblings.

Bertha is a descendent of her 10th maternal great grandfather, William Brewster (1566-1644), a passenger on the Mayflower ship. She was a member of Forward for Christ Baptist Church in Luray. She was a dedicated homemaker and took great joy from preparing and serving large meals for family and friends.

On November 23, 1946, she was married to Arthur Glendon Good, who preceded her in death on April 19, 1981.

Surviving are her sons, Ronald W. Good of Luray, VA and Donald Ray Good Sr. of Shenandoah, VA; daughters, Susan Ann Good of Mt. Jackson, VA, Bonnie Lou Mace of Luray, VA, Shirley “Sandy” Breed Case of Luray, VA and Annabelle Darlene Painter and husband Garfield of Luray, VA, Wallace and husband Tony of Luray, VA, and Debra Kay Turner and fiancé John. Also surviving is one brother Kenneth Wayne Stoneberger and wife Patsy of Luray; 25 grandchildren, two of whom were raised in the home, Timothy Brian Good and Wanda Sue Good Singleton; 49 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and son-in-laws, Tony Turner, William Grant Good Sr., Arthur Alvin Jewell Sr. and daughter- in-law Amy Virginia Jewell Good.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Glendon “Gerald” Good of Luray, VA; a daughter Alice Faye Good Jewell of Culpeper, VA; son-in-laws, Sherman Lee Comer of Stanley, VA, Harold Alexander Mace of Luray; daughter-in-law, Brenda Maxine Crawford Maxwell Good, Glenda Lenora Aleshire Good; son-in-laws, Gregory Carson Aleshire and Wayne Breeden; sisters, Helen Irene Bradley and Isabelle Roulette Good; brother-in-law, Lynwood Bradley; brothers, Alfred C. (Pete), Jacob William, Paul Larry, Samuel L, Roy Lee, James Edward and Billy Joe Stoneberger; sisters-in-law, Reda Turner Stoneberger, Ellen Freese Stoneberger and Lois Jobe Stoneberger; and a great-granddaughter, Destiny Renee Good.

A funeral service will be conducted at Bradley Funeral Home, Luray, VA by Pastor Josh Parlett and Pastor Andy Seastrom. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. service in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Leakes Chapel Cemetery in Stanley, Va.
