Betty Jean “Bubbles” Henderson McNeely passed away on September 1, 2026. Born May 5, 1938, she was the daughter of Essie Lou Burton Henderson and Robert Franklin Henderson.
Betty married Samuel H. “Buzzie” McNeely on July 2, 1960. They shared 66 years of marriage and renewed their vows on their 50th anniversary. Together, they raised four children: Pam Flasch (Mark), Debi Swing, Lee McNeely (Rebecca), and Kim McCue (Patrick). She is also survived by her grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as Grammy: Jill (Drew), Anna (Nic), Abigail Lee, Samuel C., Mac, Robert Carter, and Allie, and her great-granddaughters, Mays and Quinn.
A devoted wife and mother, Betty found great joy in caring for her family and friends. She was known for her baking — especially her beloved Christmas fruitcake — and her beautiful crocheted afghans, which she lovingly made for family, friends, and causes close to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Charles, Wilbert, Haskell, Helen, Margaret, Robert, David, and Melvin.
A private graveside service was held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vera Nolfe Anderson Fund at MCG Foundation or Helping Hands, Inc. of Aiken.
