July 12, 1962 — In spite of drizzling rain which continued most of the day, a large crowd was on hand for the first annual Riverside Horse Show, conducted at Page Valley Estates Wednesday, July 4.

The show which got under way at 9 a.m. and continued all day, was sponsored by the Luray Ruritan Club, which also sold food and soft drinks.

The show, which was operated in accordance with the rules of the Virginia Horse Shows Association, attracted a number of people from outside Page County, many of which were winners in the 25 classes shown.
