Boot Hill break-in

Page County Sheriff's Office

January 22, 1987 — Page County Sheriff E.M. “Pap” Sedwick said Tuesday that a break-in at Boot Hill last Tuesday night may be linked to a break-in and attempted entry at two other county establishments.

Sedwick said there are no solid suspects in the incidents, which occurred within 48 hours at Boot Hill, the Luray Lawn Ornament Company and Fairview Grocery. Last Tuesday night someone broke the front window and stole the cash register at Boot Hill.

A break-in at the lawn ornament company on U.S. 211 west occurred between last Tuesday and last Thursday, Sedwick said. Someone pried open a window in the building and removed a coin box from a desk drawer.

The sheriff said someone attempted to break into the Fairview Grocery last Tuesday or Wednesday. The proprietor of the store noticed “pry- marks” on the rear door and phoned authorities, Sedwick said. The store was not entered and no damage was reported.
