LURAY — Luray High School sophomore Cason Bryant earns back-to-back “Athlete of the Week” honors after rushing for 154 yards and two touchdowns against William Monroe on Sept. 8 at Bulldog Field.

Bryant averaged 9.6 yards over his 16 carries in Friday night’s non-district matchup against the Class 3 Dragons. The sophomore also had breakaway runs of 17, 43 and 57 yards during the game.

The previous week Bryant averaged nearly 9 yards per carry, chalking up 76 yards and two touchdowns during his first four carries against Buffalo Gap. In the season opener, he averaged just under 7 yards per carry.

Through three games, the sophomore sensation has recorded more than 300 yards on the ground and rushed for four touchdowns.
