Cause of early morning fire in arcade and snack shop at Yogi Bear Campground unknown

Blaze remains under investigation; no injuries reported

LURAY, July 9 — Early Thursday morning, the Luray Volunteer Fire Department was called to a reported structure fire at Yogi Bear Campground on Route 211 about a mile east of Luray.

According to a report from the volunteer unit, “Upon arrival, the building that houses the arcade and snack shop was fully engulfed in fire.”

The blaze broke out around 2:45 a.m., and the cause is unknown. The incident is under investigation.

The Luray Fire Department was assisted by Stanley and Shenandoah Fire Departments, and Page County EMS.

As of 9:55am, firefighters remained on scene with overhaul operations. No injuries have been reported, and traffic was not affected.

The building is a total loss. No estimates were given on the dollar value of the damage.
