Celebrating 200 years

Luray museum

August 5, 1965 — The Stony Man Lutheran Parish will celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mount Calvary.

Activities for the day will include a service at Morning Star Lutheran Church. A picnic lunch will be served on the grounds of Morning Star at 1 p.m. In the afternoon at 3:30 p.m. a service of Holy Communion will be celebrated at the old Mount Calvary Church. Dr. J. Luther Mauney will deliver the sermon at this service.

Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, located about a mile east of Stony Man, is known as the “mother church” of five Lutheran churches in Page County, Morning Star, Beth Eden, St. Mark, St. James and Grace.
