Chuck Andrews

Age 82, Luray, Va.

Charles “Chuck” Dwain Andrews, 82, son of Charles A. Andrews and Ruth (Knadler) Andrews, born April 8, 1939 in Charleston, W.Va., died on April 23, 2021 in his cherished self-built log home, proud of its designation as a national wildlife habitat. His beloved wife Ann survives.

Funeral arrangements are through the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, followed by an intimate gathering of immediate family, treasured neighbors, and close friends. Graveside services will be held at noon on Tuesday, April 27 at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetary on Route 211 east of Luray.

Chuck was a man of many interests and adventures, serving in Vietnam as Command Sgt. Major of the 82nd Airborne Special Forces, owner of Valley Sports, and affectionately named “9 Millimeter.” He was a veteran fire fighter, police officer, heavy equipment operator in the construction of the inland port, a tour guide, and lastly the Operations Coordinator and Legislative Liaison for World Strides Student Tours. He was given a lifetime membership for his service on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Motor Coach Association and received the Mitchell Award for his dedication.

Chuck took great pride in his extensive Civil War library, his Masonic brotherhood, his shared advice and expertise in guns and ammunitions, his life-long affiliation with the Boy Scouts, the American Legion, VFW, and Rileyville Baptist Church, and, of course, the “Redskins.”

His family depicts his character and personality with these words and memories: unselfish, happy, candid, loyal, patriotic, grateful, loving, dear, valuing his family, meeting no one who wasn’t an immediate friend, talking to anyone about anything, and “the real deal” in a man. His “can do” spirit will perpetually lift us.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 100 C/O Powell Markowitz 270 Circle View Rd, Luray VA 22835 in Chuck’s memory.
