Age 90, Stanley, Va.
Chester Davis Jenkins, 90, of Stanley, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022.
He was born on June 27, 1932, in Stanley and was a son of the late Isaac Newton Jenkins and Virgie Mary Jenkins.
Chester worked for Shenandoah National Park as a supervisor for 28 years. He was a Purple Heart recipient and veteran of the United States Army, and a member of the Bethlehem Independent Christian Church in Stanley.
On August 17, 1955, he married Elizabeth Jane Orange Jenkins, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Donnie Jenkins of Stanley, Ronnie Jenkins of Boston, Mass., and Robert Jenkins of Rileyville; four daughters, Bonnie Barlow, Jodi Bolyard and Kathy Parsell, all of Stanley, and Christine Huffman of Maysville, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Isaac Jenkins; two sisters, Celia Jones and Virgie Cardin; and two grandchildren, Andrew Parsell and Amanda Jenkins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, at the Bethlehem Independent Christian Church by Pastor Andy Seastrom. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery, with military honors by the Comer-Jones VFW Post 621. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, at the church. Viewing will be private.
