Age 76, Luray, Va.

Christie Lee “Crissy” Gulbranson Greer, of Luray, passed away peacefully at 76 years old, from complications of congestive heart failure on Sept. 21, 2022.

She was born on June 27, 1946, in San Diego, California, to parents George and Ann Larsen Gulbranson, who preceded her in death. Crissy was a 1967 Graduate from Washington Hospital Center’s School of Nursing with a degree in Registered Nursing, followed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities and Education from George Washington University.

On August 11, 1984, she married John “Jack’ Marvin Greer, who preceded her in death on September 15, 2021. On that day in 1984, she also became a mother figure to Jack’s seven children and inherited an instant big family. It was a challenge that she proudly accepted and excelled in over the years. She also gained the title of “Grandma Crissy”, to 16 grandchildren that each brought her pride and joy.

Being the child of a military father, meant moving world-wide for Crissy. This also meant when the opportunity arose to plant her roots in Luray, Virginia, she accepted it. Early retirement from the nursing world to become a full time farmer with Jack was the next adventure for Crissy. Completely remodeling their farmhouse and establishing Pear Tree Farm, was an accomplishment that Crissy took pride in over the years. She was no stranger to the kitchen, a queen of sewing and crafts, and a devoted cat mom over the years. Golfing and duckpin bowling became a major pastime for her; Jack and Crissy golfed nationally and were members at Cavern’s Country Club in Luray. She also belonged to a duck pin league at Shenandoah T-Bowl Lanes, The 9 Holers of The Women’s Club.

They traveled extensively, enjoying skiing and golfing all around over the years. Grabbing a boogie board and heading into the ocean with her grandkids at Myrtle Beach to chaperone. She enjoyed nothing more than sitting on the porch with a glass of wine and a good conversation, doing a craft or two with the grandkids, mastering the art of Thanksgiving and Easter dinners, gardening, working with Stampin’ Up! and eating Maryland blue crabs. Crissy will be remembered for being a wonderful and supportive wife and step-mom, a fun grandma, and as a woman of many talents.

Crissy is survived by her brother, Tom Gulbranson (Michele), six out of seven children, 16 grandchildren, multiple great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Survived by children: Kathleen J.
