Church damaged

Luray-Cave Hill

June 9, 1966The Trinity E.U.B. Church in Rinaca’s Corner, west of Shenandoah, was almost demolished in the electrical storm, Monday afternoon when a large swamp oak tree fell diagonally across the church.

The trunk of the tree measured 17 feet in circumference.

The roots and trunk had almost completely rotted away.

An air of sadness pervades the entire community, but also a strong determination prevails to rebuild or restore their church.

There was no insurance.
