Comer has good day for Nats’ rookie team

November 29, 1962 — The Washington Nats scored a 6-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox last week in a Florida Rookie League baseball game at Plant City, Fla.

Wayne Comer, former Page County High School athlete from Shenandoah, played right field for the Washington rookie team and hit third in the batting order. He went to bat four times, collecting a single and double, scoring twice and driving in a pair of runs.

Comer was signed by the Washington American League club shortly after graduating from Page County High last June.
