Comer kills his sweetheart

Old country road

February 8, 1911 — Fitzhugh Comer, aged about 26, last Thursday shot and killed his sweetheart Miss Cora Turner, near her home on Naked Creek, between Elkton and Shenandoah City.

Comer, it is stated, was jealous and the day of the shooting was drinking, which doubtless nerved him for the terrible deed.

It is also stated that he said on the day of the shooting that he would end three lives that day — naming himself, Miss Turner and another young Comer, who was his rival.

It appears that he failed to carry out this purpose so far as the other young man is concerned only from the fact that he failed to find him as he expected.
