Crackdown on vehicle decals

Luray-Cave Hill

May 18, 1989 — The Page County Sheriff ’s Department started cracking down Monday on county residents who have not yet purchased the newly implemented county auto tag. The request for enforcement came at the Page County Board of Supervisors meeting last Monday.

To date, the county treasurer’s office has sold 11,192 auto tags, according to Treasurer Gerald Judd. He said that it would be difficult to estimate how many residents still have not purchased decals because of transfers.

“At this time we’ve collected in excess of $260,000 in back taxes with the auto tag being a significant factor in the collection,” Judd said.
