Deputy to retire

December 29, 1966 — Weston Richard Campbell, 64, of Luray, will retire as deputy sheriff of Page County on Dec. 21, 1966, after serving in that capacity for nearly nine and a half years. He will be 65 years old in January.

To honor his retirement, open house was held at Robert Lillard’s cabin near Woodland Park, from noon until late in the afternoon Wednesday, Dec. 20. The event was a surprise to Campbell.

The retiring deputy joined the Sheriff ’s Department force Sept. 1, 1956, under the regime of Sheriff J. Abram Brubaker. Prior to that he was employed at various places including the Viscose Corporation at Front Royal and as a projectionist for the Page Theatre Corporation.
