Dofflemyer seeks rezoning for car wash in Stanley

• FEBRUARY 19, 1987 — Stanley’s Town Council discussed a rezoning proposal for a potential car wash at its monthly session last Wednesday. Town Manger Mike Hammer said Friday the proposal — made by Jerry Dofflemyer of Luray — would establish a car wash on the north side of the railroad tracks fronting U.S. 340 and adjacent to the end of the tracks. He added that the request could not be acted upon until after the council has had a recommendation from the planning commission. The property is owned by Charles Louderback and will be purchased by Dofflemyer if the town gives its consent to rezone the land. Dofflemyer is in charge of operations at EastEndTexacoinLuray which also consists of a car wash.
