Dolores Eleanor Watson Smith passed on August 1, 2026, at the age of 72, residing in Shenandoah, Virginia. 

Born on October 27, 1953, in Baltimore, Md., Dorrie will be remembered most for her kind heart, infectious laugh, and unwavering compassion. She had a remarkable ability to listen without judgment, making everyone around her feel heard, welcomed, and loved. Though gentle and caring by nature, she was never afraid to share her feisty two cents when it was needed a quality that made those who knew her smile and love her even more.

Dorrie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She adored her cats, treasured her collections of dragon and penguin figurines, and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Her contagious laugh and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. ­

She was preceded in death by her parents, Minus “Burt” Watson and Eleanor “Dolly” Watson (nee Buckley); her brother, Urie Watson; and her sister, Mary Sisk.

Dorrie is survived by her beloved son, Dennis Smith; her grandchildren, Josh Smith and Ashley Wilkins; her great-grandchildren, Carter Wilkins and Everleigh Wilkins; her beloved companion of 38 years, Robert Curtis Tibbs; her stepdaughter, Amber Raye McGill (nee Tibbs); her step-grandsons, Daniel James McGill and Raylan Garrett McGill; her sisters, Grace Watson (Lindsi) and Carol Watson; her brother-in-law, Dave Beck; her nieces, Heather Smith (Robert), Crystal Oliver, Whitney Boone, and Trisha Beck; her nephews, Joseph Sisk (Laura) and Lenell Boone; her great-nieces, Alana, Kaleyana, and Persais; and her great-nephews, John “JR,” Christopher, Gabriel, Richard, and Kyler.

Dorrie’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, laughter, and unconditional love that will never be forgotten.

Celebration of life information will be announced by the family at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by the Lindsey-Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah, Va.
