July 1, 1965 — The Dry Run watershed project now bearing federal approval as announced last week by William L. Blair Jr., conservationist of the Shenandoah Valley Soil Conservation District, will cost $694,465 according to preliminary estimates.
The project to be carried out in three years on a 9,000-acre watershed will include a multi-purpose dam to permit the Town of Luray to store 86 million gallons of water, a flood- retarding structure, land treatment measures and .77 mile of storm channel improvement.
Sponsors of the Page project are the Shenandoah Valley Soil and Water Conservation District and the Town of Luray.
Blair said the federal contribution will be about $427,974.
Luray and Page interests will provide about $266,491, including land, easements and rights-of-way. Luray will operate and maintain the completed project.
