Faye Gwen Nichols, 70, of Luray, Va. died on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, in Penhook.

She was born on June 24, 1951, in Charlottesville and was a daughter of the late Melvin Martin Jenkins and Ressie Lee Downey Jenkins.

Mrs. Nichols was a member of the Mount Carmel Regular Baptist Church. She had worked at the Stanley Sewing Factory, O’Sullivans’s/Lear Corp., was a supervisor at Genie, Howell Metal and SunTrust Bank, where she retired as head vault teller.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 50 years, Jerry Clyde Nichols, are two daughters, Melissa Cubbage of Stanley, and Rebecca Sherfey of Shenandoah; a son, Jerry Christopher Nichols of Tennessee; four brothers, twin Ray Jenkins of Georgia, Jimmy Jenkins of Michigan, Gerald Jenkins of Charlottesville, and David Jenkins of California; one sister, Martha Lynch of Charlottesville; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Koontz and Judy Blair.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Mount Carmel Regular Baptist Church in Luray. A meal will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
