July grand jury session issues 37 indictments against 21 people

LURAY, July 2 — Members of a grand jury in Page County Circuit Court issued a true bill on a total of 37 indictments handed down Wednesday, July 2 on charges placed among 21 individuals.

Those indicted by the July 2 grand jury include:

Jennifer Anne Baker Smith, of Luray, Va., was indicted on two Class 6 felonies for child abuse (disregard of life) and two Class 1 misdemeanors for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. All four offenses and an arrest occurred on May 9, 2025, according to court records. Smith is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025 for a four-hour jury trial.

Alex Michael Scofield, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for a threat to bomb or burn, with the accused being greater than, or equal to, 15 years of age. The offense occurred on Dec. 7, 2024, according to court records, with no arrest date listed. Scofield was scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 10 for a status hearing. He is now scheduled for another hearing at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

James Adam Hudson, of Shenandoah, Va. was indicted on a Class 6 felony for strangulation and wounding with an injury resulting, and two Class 1 misdemeanors for the assault and battery of a family member and damaging a phone line to prevent a 911 call. All three offenses occurred on May 13, 2025, according to court records, with an arrest on May 15, 2025. Hudson was scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 10. At that time, he entered a plea of guilty on all three charges and was sentenced to five years (with time served) and two years of supervised probation for the strangulation charge, 30 days in jail with 12 months of supervised probation for damaging a phone line, and 30 days in jail for the assault charge (no probation).

Jeremy Nicholas Shelton, of (no address listed), was indicted on a Class 6 felony for strangulation and a Class 1 misdemeanor for assault and battery. Both offenses and an arrest occurred on May 10, 2025, according to court records. Shelton is scheduled to appear in court again at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025 for a four-hour jury trial.

Sabrina Ann Stanley, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 6 felony for the assault and battery of a family member, being the third or subsequent offense, occurring with an arrest on April 10, 2025, according to court records. Stanley also received two direct indictments for a second Class 6 felony for the assault and battery of a family member (third or subsequent offense) and malicious assault resulting in an injury, with both occurring on Aug. 5, 2023 and no arrest date listed, according to court records. Stanley was scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 10 to file pre-trial motions, and is now scheduled to appear again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 for a status hearing.

Clyde Franklin Dinges, of Stanley, Va., received three direct indictments on three unclassified felonies for the distribution or sale for profit of a Schedule I/II drug. The offenses occurred on Jan. 3, Jan. 7 and Jan. 20 of 2025, according to court records, with no arrest listed. Dinges is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025 to appoint counsel.

• Chance Alexander Rosson, of (no address listed), was indicted on an unclassified felony for the distribution or sale for profit of a Schedule I/II drug. He also received two direct indictments on two additional unclassified felonies for the same charge. The offenses occurred on Nov. 22, Dec. 5 and Dec. 13 of 2024, according to court records, with no arrest date listed. A capias warrant was issued for Rosson’s arrest following the grand jury session on July 2.

• Rhonda Elizabeth Dovel, of Luray, Va., was indicted on two unclassified felonies for the distribution or sale for profit of a Schedule I/II drug. The offenses occurred on March 6 and March 10 of 2025, according to court records, with no arrest date listed. A capias warrant was issued for Dovel’s arrest following the grand jury session on July 2.

• Evangeline Estella Short, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on two unclassified felonies for the distribution or sale for profit of a Schedule I/II drug. One offense and an arrest occurred on Jan. 21, 2025, according to court records, while another occurred on Ja. 20, 2025 with no arrest date listed. Short is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025 for a status hearing.

• Scott Franklin Buracker, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug and two Class 6 felonies for nonviolent possession of a gun more than 10 years after being convicted of a felony and possession of a gun while in possession of a Schedule I/II drug. All three offenses and an arrest occurred on Oct. 2, 2024, according to court records. Buracker is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 for a status hearing.

• Curtis Russell, of Harrisonburg, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for issuing a false statement on his criminal history consent. The offense occurred on May 30, 2024, according to court records, with an arrest on Dec. 15, 2024. Russell is scheduled to appear in court again at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025 for a status hearing.

• Parker Thompson Parlett, of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted on an unclassified felony for possession with the intent to manufacture a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Feb. 2, 2025, according to court records, with an arrest on April 10, 2025. Parlett is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025 for a hearing.

• Ashby Harrison Atkins, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on April 15, 2025, according to court records. Atkins is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 for a hearing.

• Nicole Amanda Culver, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on May 27, 2025, according to court records. Culver was scheduled to appear in court again at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025 for a hearing.

• Christi Leann Deavers, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Oct. 23, 2024, according to court records, with an arrest on Jan. 14, 2025. Deavers is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025 for a status hearing.

• Kandace Nicole Fleenor, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Nov. 7, 2024, according to court records, with an arrest on March 24, 2025. No future court dates were listed.

• Jeremy Kyle Jenkins, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on April 15, 2025, according to court records. Jenkins is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025 for a hearing.

• Victoria Lesley MacDonald, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on Feb. 4, 2025, according to court records. MacDonald is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 for a status hearing.

• Robert Jason May, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on April 8, 2025, according to court records. May is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025 for a hearing.

• Jeramey Scott Mullins, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Nov. 21, 2024, according to court records, with an arrest on Feb. 24, 2025. Mullins is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025 for a four-hour jury trial.

• Anthony Scott Presgraves, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on March 26, 2025, according to court records. Presgraves is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 for a hearing.

Grand jury hearings are held the first Wednesday of each month in Page County Circuit Court.
