Age 77, Luray, Va.

Franklin Lee Knight, 77, of Luray, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family. Frankie was born on November 27, 1944, and was the son of the late Jacob Franklin Knight and Lissie Marie Good Knight. 

Frankie was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Stanley. He retired from Rose Roofing Company, where he was employed for 40 years.

On May 19, 1962, he married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Sours Knight. 

In addition to his wife of 60 years, Frankie is survived by two daughters, Carla Lee Whiteside and husband Jimbo, and Carol Ann Lam and husband Greg, all of Stanley. 

Frankie is also survived by his five wonderful grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, James Whiteside III and wife Cassey of Luray, Rebecca Good and husband Dwayne of Stanley, Elizabeth McDonaldson and husband Tyler of Shenandoah, Zachary  Lam of Craigsville, and Logan Lam of Luray. 

In addition, Frankie is survived by five great-grandchildren, that were his babies and he loved endlessly, Koralynn Whiteside of Luray, Rileigh Good of Stanley, and Bailey, Weston and Jace McDonaldson, all of Shenandoah. 

Frankie is survived by one brother, James W. Knight of Stanley; and two sisters, Patsy Miller of Luray, and Dixie Knight of Harrisonburg. 

In addition to his parents, Frankie was preceded in death by two children, Frances L. Knight and Gerald L. Knight; and two brothers, Arnold Knight and Jacob “Doll” Knight. 

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 20, at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Stanley by the Rev.  Donnie Sherfey.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Stanley Volunteer Rescue Squad or to the Fellowship Baptist Church.

Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
