Gary Page Bauserman passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021 on his family farm in Luray, Virginia.

Gary was born on December 5, 1942 in Luray. He is the son of the late Marvin and Ella (Brubaker) Bauserman of Luray. He was a graduate of Luray High School class of 1961. During his younger years he worked several jobs including Postal Delivery for the Post Office, Electrician for H.E. Wakeman Electrics and Burner Electric, while also running the family farm with his twin brother Mark.

Gary was a member of the Luray Ruritan Club for 55 years with perfect attendance. He served as President of the Page County Farm Bureau Federation for many years and was a lifelong member of the Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Gary was a member of a square dance group and greatly enjoyed sharing his talents with others. 

Gary was very devoted to Page County history. He authored the section on Page County’s history in the book Page County a-Plenty. He was a member of the Page County Heritage Association for 50-plus years and was in attendance at all 50 of the Page County Heritage Festivals in Luray, giving demonstrations of how a steam-powered sawmill worked and many other historical machines.

Gary was dedicated to preserving history through this collection of literature and historical artifacts. He was often in attendance of auctions and made friends with other collectors around the Shenandoah Valley. He was a member of the Shenandoah Valley Folklore Society from its beginning. 

He is survived by his twin brother Mark and sisters-in-law Nancy of Luray, sister Sue Fulgum of Midlothian, nephews Mathew Fulgum (Betty Jo) of Midlothian, Erik Bauserman(Jennifer) of Lebanon Church , Mark Andrew Bauserman (Aude) of Luray, Martin Bauserman (Nga) of Strasburg, William Bauserman (Erica) of Chesterfield, Thomas Bauserman (Hannah) of Harrisonburg; nieces Kathleen Keim (Nash) of Luray and Rachel Bauserman of Strasburg. Gary has numerous great nephews and nieces and cousins that were close family to him. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Thomas Fulgum, nephews Mark Fulgum and Robert Bauserman. 

A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, June 15 at 10 a.m. at Beahm’s Chapel in Luray. 

Contributions may be made to the Page County Heritage Association in lieu of flowers.

Arrangements are being handled by the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
