January 3, 1889 — The pupils of this school gave their semi-annual soiree on Thursday night, Dec. 20, and a more enjoyable entertainment it has seldom been our fortune to attend.
The very marked improvement of the pupils in their musical studies under the tuition of Prof. Beardsworth, was apparent from the rendition of the first number to the close. It is impossible for us to particularize the various performers, as each one did their part exceedingly well, but we could not help being impressed by the finished style in which the pieces were given, the good time and expression of the theme.
We congratulate Prof. Beardsworth on the result of his labors, and his pupils in the advancement they have made.
