Glidden Tour passes through

Luray museum

September 23, 1965 — Local residents and weekend visitors had a first-hand opportunity to see what automobiles looked like in the “good old days” when more than 100 antique and classic cars spent Saturday night of last week in Luray, en route to the 1965 Glidden Tour which began the following day at Staunton.

They parked on hotel and motel lots, ran up and down Main Street all evening to the sound of old-type horns and back-firing, while their owners argued the merits of their own particular model with competing motorists and interested bystanders.
