Hearing Aug. 25 on proposed zoning changes related to accessory dwellings, solar projects and containers

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
SHENANDOAH TOWN COUNCIL
PROPOSED CHANGES TO ZONING ORDINANCE

NOTICE is hereby given pursuant to §§ 15.2-2204 and 15.2-2253 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, that Shenandoah Town Council will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., in the Shenandoah Town Hall at 426 First Street in Shenandoah, Virginia.

The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comment concerning the following proposed changes to the zoning ordinance set forth in Chapter 50, Article II, of the Town Code:

Sections 50-33
• Amended to add Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) definition
Section 50-119
• Added as follows:
Sec. 50-119 – Accessory Dwelling Units allowable in all “R” Zones

Division 3. – Supplementary Regulations
Sec. 50-120 – Solar Photovoltaic information added to allow Solar Projects
Sec. 50-118 – Portable Storage and refuse container limitation in all “R” zones

Copies of the proposed changes and the Town’s zoning ordinance are available at the Shenandoah Town Hall at 426 First Street in Shenandoah, Virginia, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday.

NOTE: Any hearing-impaired individual who needs an interpreter must notify the Town Office at least seven days prior to the public hearing.
