Heavy snow

January 27, 1966 — Old man winter showed his teeth in the Page Valley Saturday by dumping 8-1/2 inches of heavy snow in this area. That was the depth measured locally, however depths of two to three more inches were reported in other parts of the Shenandoah Valley.

The snow started falling about 11:30 a.m. Saturday and continued well past midnight.

No serious traffic mishaps were reported in this area although there were numerous instances where cars slipped off the highways requiring wrecker service.

The snow-covered earth caused temperatures to plummet into the low teens each night this week. Temperatures occasionally rose above the freezing point during the day.
