Ilene Beth Reilly (nee Zurav) passed away after a gallant struggle with pancreatic and ovarian cancer this past Tuesday, November 17, 2020.
She is survived by her adoring life partner William ‘Bill’ Rookard, her grieving brother Edward H. Zurav, and her doting mother Frankie Stalford Zurav.
Ilene was born on March 7, 1954 at Newark Beth Israel Hospital and grew up in Springfield, New Jersey.
She was an honors graduate of the Thelma L. Sandmeier School in 1965, the Florence M. Gaudineer Junior High School in 1968 and Jonathan Dayton Regional High School class of 1972, where she achieved a 4.0 grade point average. She matriculated at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1976.
She was employed at the Bendix Corporation and Westinghouse for over 20 years before starting her own businesses doing computer design and service and subsequently going into wholesaling and retailing organic and natural foods, herbs, spices and health products.
Ilene was also an enthusiastic skier, ski racer and ski instructor and competed at expert levels around the country and internationally.
