Luray High School junior running back Brady Jenkins has scored two touchdowns in all three of the Bulldogs’ games this year, including Friday night’s 21-12 win over county-rival Page.

In the season opener on Aug. 27 against Mt. View, Jenkins started the game off by scoring on two of his first three carries on runs of 28 and 26 yards in a 62-0 romp of the Generals. On Sept. 3 at Buffalo Gap, the second-team All-Region selection broke loose for a 38-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter that capped the scoring in a narrow 13-12 win over the hosting Bison. Then on Friday night, the junior scored two of the Bulldogs’ three touchdowns on the night on runs of 57 and 27 yards to close out a 21-12 win over the Panthers.

What made Jenkins’ performance even more impressive on Friday night was the many roles he was asked to play. The Bulldogs initiated a “pistol-style” offense with two backs — Jenkins and fellow junior Kenny Frye — with direct snaps going to Jenkins in the shotgun. While he carried the rock the majority of the time, Jenkins was also called on to pass the ball. The hard-grinding running back showed decent arm strength and reasonable accuracy. On top of that, Jenkins anchored the Luray defense which stymied Page after its first two drives.

This Friday, the Bulldogs (3-0) will host Skyline (0-3) in a non-district matchup.
